Home from home report
As part of Alzheimer's Society's Putting Care Right campaign, which aims to increase the quality of care for people with dementia, we produced a report on quality of care in care homes.
The Home from home report provides an understanding of perceptions of the quality of dementia care provided in care homes. It also recommends action to bring the quality of all homes up to that of the best.
Key findings
- Two thirds of care home residents have some form of dementia
- Some homes provide excellent care. Many homes are still not providing the level of person centred care people with dementia deserve
- There are still some issues with the provision of activities and occupation
- Many care home residents with dementia are not being with dignity and respect they deserve
To complement this report, we have produced a guide to choosing a care home.
