Our partnership with Nestlé

Nestlé UK chose to support Alzheimer's Society as their Charity of the Year partner 2010/2011 after an all staff vote.

The partnership, launched on 20 September 2010, exceeded all of our expectations by raising an amazing £350,000; the original target was set at £250,000. Nestlé have raised awareness and helped to fund Alzheimer's Society National Dementia Helpline, research and other services.

Nestlé staff supported Alzheimer's Society by doing a variety of exciting and challenging activities. Highlights of the year include:
  • The Nestlé Summer Charity Ball. Over 500 guests had the opportunity to bid in the live and silent auctions, win a prize in 'Draw your weapon' (lucky dip) and enjoy a whole host of entertainment.
  • The Site to Site Challenge. 72 athletic Nestlé staff took to the road in July 2011 to join the 500 mile cycle from Scotland to London. The route covered the length and breadth of the country and visited a total of 8 Nestle sites across the UK.
  • Jeremy Hughes (Chief Executive at Alzheimer's Society) and Paul Grimwood (CEO and Chairman of Nestlé UK & Ireland) joined forces to create a gigantic Kit Kat.
  • Local branches organised the Nestlé Cappuccino ball raising over £13,000, a Halloween ball raising £10,000 and 'Go Blue' days.

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer's Society said:

'On behalf of everyone at Alzheimer's Society I would like to say a huge thank you to Nestlé for their generous support. Every penny raised will support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.  Nestlé have also helped increase awareness of dementia and we are all extremely grateful for the time and energy they have put in.'

Paul Grimwood, CEO and Chairman of Nestlé UK & Ireland, said:

'I am proud that Nestlé employees have smashed our target.  The money will help fund Alzheimer's Society's National Dementia Helpline and valuable research into finding the cause and a cure for dementia which affects over 800,000 people in the UK.'

Thank you Nestlé for all of your support.
