BiographyRichard Dunswoody

Richard Dunwoody is one of Britain's most successful jockeys ever and a three-time Champion Jockey winner.

He was at the forefront of English National Hunt racing in the 80's and the 90's, winning the Big Three races - the Grand National (twice), the Champion Hurdle and the Cheltenham Gold Cup as well as a record 1,699 races.

Since retirement from racing in 1999 due to injury, Richard has forged a new career as a racing pundit, sports columnist, adventurer and inspirational speaker.

Richard has also worked tirelessly to raise funds for numerous charities, including Alzheimer's Society.

In 2009, Richard walked 1,000 miles in 1,000 consecutive hours to raise thousands of pounds for Alzheimer's Society, amongst other charities.

'The walk was a tough but exhilarating challenge. Walking is a fantastic way to keep fit and if others want a slightly easier challenge they can always sign up to a Memory Walk to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.'
