Biography

Star of stage and screen, Lynda is one of Britain's best-loved actresses and an Alzheimer's Society ambassador.

Lynda's high profile roles include At Home with the Braithwaites, All Creatures Great and Small, Loose Women presenter, Calendar Girls stage production and of course, the mother in the OXO ads.

An active and committed ambassador for Alzheimer's Society for many years, Lynda and her family cared for her mother, Ruth, who had Alzheimer's disease

Lynda regularly speaks out on behalf of people with dementia and their carers and has appeared on numerous TV and radio shows to increase awareness of dementia. She and her husband Michael often attend events up and down the country to raise money and support of the Society's work. Lynda has supported Memory Walks for a number of years.

'Memories are precious - and even Mum's illness with dementia could not take away my happy memories of time spent with her. I know too, that so much of what the Alzheimer's Society does is helping families and friends enjoy time together so that their happy memories last for as long as possible. Thank goodness Alzheimer's Society exists.'


Alzheimer's Society vice-presidents, patrons and ambassadors programme

The Vice-Presidents, Patrons and Ambassadors programme was launched by the Alzheimer's Society at the House of Lords on Thursday 15 March 2007, with more than 30 influential people from the worlds of business, politics, science and the arts.
