What is eBay for Charity?

Through eBay for Charity, as a seller you can donate a percentage (10-100%) of your sales to Alzheimer's Society. Or as a buyer, you can buy items which have a percentage of the total sale price going to support our work.

Sellers pay a flat 'insertion fee'- which is dependant on your starting price. Sellers using eBay for Charity will have a reduced insertion fee dependent on the percentage of the final sale price they set e.g. if you donate 50% of your final sale price to Alzheimer's Society then your insertion fee will be reduced by 50%.

Setting up an account

Setting up an account is straightforward. There are a couple of online forms to fill in and if you also open a PayPal account you will be able to accept electronic payments, greatly increasing your chance of a sale.

It pays to take note of the 'selling tips' listed on the site. Items are more likely to sell if there is a clear, simple description of the item and a good photograph.

How to choose Alzheimer's Society as your favourite

eBay have launched a new concept which will allow shoppers to select their favourite charity so they'll be offered the chance to make a donation each time they buy or sell on eBay.

If you have an eBay account, please log on and choose Alzheimer's Society as your favourite charity. To do this simply:

Sign into your eBay Account and visit your Donation Account, under the Account Tab
Click on 'My Favourite Charities' under My eBay
Search for 'Alzheimer's Society' and click 'Save as a Favourite'

Then tell your friends, relatives, colleagues and anyone else you can think of to do the same so we can get as many supporters as possible!
