Local news
- Local artist donates works to Alzheimer's Society in support of people affected by dementia - Up and coming artist Mandy Amos has donated three of her original second state print work proofs to Alzheimer's Society to help raise money for the charity’s work for people with dementia.
- Hanham Riders raise almost £3,000 for Alzheimer's Society - Forty-two riders took part in a locally organised cycle challenge around Bristol to raise money, we'd like to thank them for their dedication and fantastic fundraising efforts.
- Zipline challenge trebles fundraising target - Jean Anderson has completed England's largest zipline to raise money for our services in Devon and Cornwall.
- 400km cycle challenge in Portugal - George Smith has cycled across the Algarve to raise money for us in memory of his brother Derek.
- Ilminster Town Ladies Football Club raised over £300 in a sponsored pub crawl - We'd like to thank everyone involved for their support.
- Babs' Garden Party raises over £1,000 - A huge thank you to the lovely Babs Cole, who held a tea party fundraiser in her garden and raised over a thousand pounds in one afternoon.
Local volunteering opportunities
Do you have some time to spare? Everyone has something to contribute to the Society. Volunteering is flexible, ranging from a few hours a year to several hours a week. It's your choice.

More about Alzheimer's Society in the South West area
In the South West area there are over 81,000 people with dementia and it is predicted that this figure will rise to over 106,000 by 2021. The South West has the highest number of people living with dementia in the West, however, it also has the lowest diagnosis rate.
There are support groups and local services which provide day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. Find our more about services in the South West area.
