Apply for funding
Alzheimer's Society accepts applications for funding for research into the cause, cure, care or prevention of dementia. Funding is available for Project, Fellowship, PhD studentship and Dissemination grants. Invitations to work in partnership in research are also very welcome.
The research programme covers the full scope of dementia research, from laboratory-based investigative science and clinical research to studies into social interventions and care services for people with dementia.
Funding is available for research carried out at an academic institution or clinical department in the UK. Lead applicants must work full-time and be based in the UK.
All applications are considered by a competitive consumer-prioritised, peer-reviewed selection process.
Alzheimer's Society expects to be an active partner in the research process, supporting the successful outcome and dissemination of research findings.
Application procedure
Applications for funding are scored by members of the lay review panel. This ensures that Alzheimer's Society funds research that will benefit people with dementia and their carers.
Applications are then subject to rigorous peer-review by experts in the field.
Successful applicants are invited to interview by a mixed panel of scientists and network members. The final decision on funding is made by the grant panel.
Application review process takes approximately six months.
