Gift Aid

Turning every £1 donated into £1.28 at no cost to you, your sponsors or the Alzheimer's Society!

The Inland Revenue will, with a few exceptions, "top-up" every £1 given to the Alzheimer's Society with 28p. So, if you raise £1,000.00 the Society could receive an extra £280.00 from the Inland Revenue at no expense to you, your donors or the Society!

However, please be aware that Gift Aid cannot be considered part of your sponsorship.

For donations to be eligible, the donor will need to have paid an equal amount in income/ capital gains tax.

For example, if a sponsor has given you £10.00, they will need to have paid £2.80 in tax in order for the Society to be able to claim an equal amount from the Inland Revenue.

To make it possible for us to claim this much-needed additional income, the following requirements need to be met: 

• Donors need to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. 
• Donors must provide clear details of their home address with full postcode. (Their address will not be used for any other purpose than claiming Gift Aid.) 
• The Inland Revenue also need to know when the donation was paid - so please fill in the 'Date payment received' box on the sponsorship form on the day you receive the donation. 
• Please return all sponsorship forms to the Alzheimer's Society when all outstanding funds have been collected. The Society will not be able to claim the Gift Aid without these forms.

All donations should be written on the sponsorship form. Please note charities can no longer claim Gift Aid on company donations, as these are now paid gross.

Encourage all of your donors to tick the Gift Aid box - as this will mean we can do even more with your sponsorship!

Please make your sponsors aware that we do not use their details for marketing purposes and they will not receive any mailings from us.
