Sending in money from an event
There are a number of ways to send the Society your sponsorship or donations. Read on for further information.
Opening a separate fundraising account
Some people find that this is the best way to bank sponsorship money. You cannot open an account in the name of Alzheimer's Society, but you can open one in the name of the event and your name, i.e., 'Mr A Sample Alzheimer's Sponsored Run Account'. Contact your normal bank about opening an additional account first. Banks have different views on this so if one bank can't help you, try another.
Using your own bank account
Some event participants prefer to raise all their sponsorship in cash, deposit into their personal bank account and then send the Society a personal cheque for the total. This is fine. However you may find that some sponsors/companies will want to make cheques or CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) vouchers out to the charity (payable to 'Alzheimer's Society'.) In these cases the cheques and vouchers will have to be sent to the Society. Where possible send these yourself with a copy of a donation form so that we can easily allocate this money to your event.
Sending cheques and CAF vouchers to Alzheimer's Society
Whenever you send a cheque to us, please enclose a completed donation form. Once we receive your cheques we will bank them and issue you with a letter of receipt. The amount you have sent will be logged against your name and event on our database.
Credit Cards
If someone would like to sponsor you using their Debit / Credit card please ask them to sponsor you using your online sponsorship form through www.JustGiving.com. Please see the Fundraising using the internet and email fact sheet for further details.
Receipts and authorisation
Some companies or individuals may request individual receipts for the amounts they have given you. If an official receipt is required please contact the Events Team.
A bank may request authorisation that you are doing an event for the Society. If you need a letter of authorisation please contact the Events Team by email to events@alzheimers.org.uk or call 0870 417 0192.
Please do not deposit money directly into the Alzheimer's Society bank account.
