Research grants

The Alzheimer's Society is currently offering the following types of research grants:

PhD studentship

The Alzheimer's Society funds PhD studentships placed in successful dementia research groups in order to attract scientists into dementia research at an early stage of their career and to support successful dementia research groups to achieve specific targets within a larger body of work at a reasonable cost.

Research Fellowship

The Alzheimer's Society provides support for individuals ready to embark on an independent research career in an aspect of dementia research. Research fellows can be basic scientists with a PhD or individuals with a medical or other relevant professional qualification. The fellowship can be for two or three years. There is an option for extension to a maximum of five years.

Project grant

Established researchers can apply for funding for projects that target a research priority as published on the QRD website. Funding will not normally exceed three years and can be to pay for staff employed wholly for this research project, small equipment and specific services as further detailed in the guidance document published on the QRD website.

Dissemination grant

The Alzheimer's Society provides funding for specific dissemination projects that aims to make research outcomes more widely available to the general public or to specific targeted audiences. Some preference is given to outcomes from Alzheimer's Society funded research in order to extract the maximum benefit.
