Volunteering

| Volunteers
play an integral part in the support offered by the branch to those
affected by dementia. We greatly appreciate the contribution made by
all volunteers and the time that is given.
I
have found being involved with the branch personally
rewarding.

There are three different types of
volunteers.
As an occasional volunteer you can
get involved in organising awareness raising events or fundraising events
such as street collections or coffee mornings.
As a regular volunteer you may
take on the role of a befriender to a carer, help to distribute
information around the city, staff information stands, or some general
office duties.
As a Branch committee member you
will be involved in the running of the branch. Committee members also have
the opportunity to get involved in fundraising and awareness raising
events throughout the year.
Please contact us if you are interested
in becoming a volunteer for the Branch.
Volunteer
befriender
Sometimes carers value the opportunity to talk about their caring role
and sometimes they prefer to talk about something completely different! A
befriender provides a consistent presence and an opportunity to be
listened to. These regular visits can take place in the home or out and
about, for example in a coffee shop.
Most befrienders give a weekly commitment to the people they visit,
with most visits lasting one and a half to two hours. These volunteers
come to the branch with a wide range of life experiences. Ongoing
support and training is provided for all our volunteers.
Please note, we are not recruiting people for befriending roles at
the moment. If you would like to be considered for any future
opportunities please contact us.
