Alzheimer's Society

The branch Outreach Centre is based at Church Walk shopping centre in Walker and is open Monday to Friday, 10am – 3.30pm. The Centre provides free and confidential information, support and advice services to people living and working in the East End.

We aim to provide a community based accessible centre of information and advice for the East End of Newcastle and to share our specialist knowledge of dementia with staff in other local organisations.

Support and advice

Our Outreach Development Worker is available to talk with you about your feelings and concerns if you have dementia or you are caring for someone with dementia. We are able to talk with you at our centre or if you would prefer we can visit you at home.

We run regular support groups that offer opportunities to meet other people in an informal and relaxed atmosphere to share experiences, learn more about caring and perhaps make some new friends.

What services do we provide?

  • One to one emotional support.

  • Carer support group held the first Tuesday in each month.

  • Social group for people with dementia and their carers. This is an activity-based group held the third Friday in each month.

  • Talks to community groups.

  • Enquiry service.

  • Publication's resource.

  • Access to the Society's knowledge database - DEMBASE.

  • Internet access to dementia related websites.

  • Library of activities suitable for use by people with dementia.
