Computer games used to identify cognitive impairment

Published Monday 17th July 2006 in Research news

Alzheimer’s Society comment on research by Holly Jimison and colleagues reported at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s disease and Related Disorders.

'Holly Jimison and colleagues report a new approach using computers to measure cognitive performance, a novel development to try and make memory testing interesting and fun. Although this is a relatively small test and these are early results we welcome efforts to improve testing of cognitive functioning. Any development that could encourage an earlier diagnosis of dementia is crucial because only then can people receive the services, information and drug treatments they need.'
