Row, row, row your boat roughly across the seas

Published Sunday 1st January 2006 in Fundraising news

Tim Bradbury, 54, from Burgh by Sands, near Carlisle and Mick Norman, 57, from Barrington, near Cambridge are taking on one of the toughest nautical challenges.

They are rowing across the Atlantic, to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

The adventurous duo set out from La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 25 January 2006. They will be rowing approximately 3,000 miles and aim to take 100 days or less to reach their final destination - Antigua.

Both Mick and I are more adventurers than rowers but we are training hard and looking forward to the challenge we've set ourselves.

I'm doing it for the Alzheimer's Society because my dad died a few years ago. The affect on the family and especially my mum was dreadful. I have the chance with this challenge to try and do something to help other families affected by this awful disease.
