Alzheimer Cafés and Lunch Clubs

couple with Pat Boyle

We have introduced Alzheimer Cafés in Chesterfield, Clay Cross and Dronfield - and Lunch Clubs in Bolsover and Clowne where carers and people with dementia can go to talk things over with a cup of tea / coffee and food.

Respite care

man and woman - carer and cared

Free respite care, through our contract with 'Crossroads - caring for carers' is available to people diagnosed with dementia and living in our area.

Highly trained staff will take over the caring responsibilities to allow carers a much needed break from their caring role. It may be on an occasional basis, or a regular service for a few hours each week.

Singing for the Brain

people singing

A new group - which will meet on the 4th Thursday of the month commencing 24 April 2008 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at St John's Church Hall, Walton, Chesterfield.
What is 'Singing for the Brain', what can you expect and why might you want to come?
'Singing for the Brain' has many health benefits woven in the fun of singing.
It is enjoyable, friendly and uplifting, giving many people a much needed boost in confidence.
It's a lively activity which helps communication at the session and afterwards at home. Suitable for people with any form of dementia or other memory problems and their carers.
We aim to help the brain through the fun and exercise of singing activities.

Younger People with dementia

We have a support group for younger people with dementia (those aged under 65), and their carers. It's estimated that there are 15,000 people in this category in the UK, and around 76 living in the area covered by the branch.
