Services offered

  • Carers Assessments

    Conducting carers assessments for carers of people with dementia referred via Community Mental Health Teams.

  • Carers Support

    Support, information and advice to carers of people with dementia, and also to friends and relatives of people with dementia.Support to both current and former carers offered by telephone helpline, drop in service and home visits. Other services such as support groups, outings, socials and mini holidays complement the main Carer Support service. The helpline number is 01273 726266

  • Carers Support Groups

    Three support groups held monthly for carers currently caring for someone with dementia at home. One in Brighton, one in Hove and a third associated with Brighton's Towner Club, for carers of members with early onset dementia.

  • Charity Shop

    Charity shop selling donated goods to the public. Staffed by a manager, an assistant and a team of dedicated volunteers. If you have any unwanted clothes, bric-a-brac, records, books etc. which are in a good condition to be sold in our shop, we would be grateful if you could donate them to us. We can collect.   • Drop in Centres

    Providing one to one confidential support to carers, relatives of people with dementia, former carers and professionals.__ Wednesday 9:30am - 3pm The Annexe, Ireland Lodge, Woodingdean.__ Thursday 9:30am - 1pm Aldrington Day Hospital, Hove.__ Thursday 2pm - 4:30pm Nevill Hospital, Hangleton.__ Friday 9:30am - 1pm Brighton General Hospital, Jevington Block (J2).__ Every 4th Friday of the month 10am - 2pm NewLarchwood Centre, Coldean (Drop-in and cafe).__ Extensive library of publications available on loan from the Woodingdean Centre.

  • Former Carers Support Group

    Support for carers of people with Dementia who have moved into residential care and for recently bereaved carers (in the first year of bereavement).

  • Friendship Cafe

    If you have been diagnosed with dementia, or just having difficulties with your memory, you are invited to join us at the Friendship Cafe, with partners, carers or friends, every Thursday morning from 10am to 12pm at the St Peters Church Hall in Brighton. This is a weekly opportunity to meet socially and informally on a regular basis in a supportive environment, to chat over a cup of tea or coffee and make new friends

  • Friendship Group

    Social group for former carers

  • Helpline

    Out of hours telephone helpline run by trained volunteers 365 days per year, 5pm-11pm Mon-Fri and 9am-11pm Sat/Sun. The helpline number is 01273 726266

  • Outings and Socials

    Regular monthly outings and a least two social events per year for carers, people with dementia and former carers. A chance to meet and relax and to feel less isolated.

  • Relief Care Scheme

    Home care relief service to people with dementia and their carers. It offers respite, support and advice. Visits are mostly 3-4 hrs per week. The service receives funding from Brighton&Hove Adult Social Care, and voluntary contributions from families supported by the scheme help to maintain this service.

  • Support Line Newsletter

    Quarterly newsletter produced by Brighton Area branch with information on services, branch news updates, information on fundraising activities and articles of interest to people with dementia and their carers.

  • Towner Club

    Specialist day centre for younger people with dementia. Open 2 days a week for up to 10 people each day. The Club is highly member led and a wide range of activities take place according to member suggestions and preferences.
