Active Links befriending service
Active Links is a bespoke befriending service for people with dementia offering social companionship and support to a person with dementia to continue a hobby.
Carers Education Programme
A monthly programme of educational topics to support a carer in their role. Topics may include dementia, assessment and diagnosis, communicating with a person with dementia and benefits.
Classic Cafe
A drop in information service for active people with mild to moderate dementia and mental health issues and their carers. Refreshments and a small lunch is provided. Focus group discussions, light activities and one to one support is available.
Drop in Service
Our office is staffed on a Wednesday between 11 am and 2.30 pm each week to allow people with dementia, carers and professionals to pop in and speak to one of the team or browse through our resources.
Early stage dementia group
A group for people with early stage dementia which meets once per week for a defined period of 6-8 weeks. This enables individuals to have the chance to network with others in similar positions, acknowledge their diagnosis and begin to plan for their future. Groups are run throughout the year. To join a group please contact the branch who will advise you of the next planned group.
Healthy Ageing Cafe
In partnership with the mental health trust (SLAM), the provision of a drop-in cafe where people with dementia and their carers can come together to enjoy a social experience, with information and advice about healthy eating and lifestyles on hand as well as activities.
Hospital Help desk
The provision of an advice and information help desk located in Kings College Hospital Memory Clinic The desk is manned once- twice per month by staff from Lambeth and Southwark branches of the Alzheimer's Society.
Information and Advice
Information and Advice about dementia and caring for someone with dementia. Available at public events throughout the year and via the telephone. One to one meetings can be arranged
Outreach in North Southwark
Provision of telephone information, advice and emotional support for people with dementia and their carers, family and friends. Direct one to one support delivered via home visits.
Outreach in South Southwark
Provision of telephone information, advice and emotional support to people with dementia, their carers family and friends. Direct one to one support delivered via home visits.
Quarterly Newsletter
The Southwark branch sendsa quarterly newsletter to all the service users and professionals that we are in contact with. The newsletter includes information on activities within the branch and local information that may benefit people with dementia and their carers.
Social Events
The Southwark branch offers quarterly social events for people with dementia and their carers, giving the opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to enjoy the company of others with similar experiences and have some fun with our team and committee
Support Group for carers
A facilitated group meeting once a month to provide emotional support and networking opportunities for carers of people with dementia. There is an agenda set of different topics each month, with an opportunity for a general discussion at the end of the meeting
