Advocare ServiceThe Advocare department at the Peterborough Branch of the Alzheimer's Society is proving very popular with the demand for our services being high and proving how necessary Advocare is. We help people in many different situations and add our voice to yours. What is Advocare? Advocare is primarily about having someone on your side supporting you to have your say. There are many ways in which we can help.
We are happy to go with you to meetings, reviews and CPA's to support you and keep you fully involved. Our aim is to redress the balance of power by providing people with dementia and their carers, information to secure services, rights or simply a better quality of life. We want to help you gain as much choice and control over your lives as possible. If you would like to talk to us further about Advocare and how we can help you, call Kevin Bowyer, Branch Manager or Trish Jones, Advocare Co-ordinator on 01733 893853. Visits at home can also be made. The Advocare Service also runs a 'Pathways for Men' group which is set in an informal atmosphere, encouraging lively discussion and interaction between the group. We also do exercises that challenge the memory. The group allows participants to express views and opinions and enables them to become more confident in dealing with issues in their own lives.
