Welcome to the Alzheimer's Society's Eastbourne & District's website. We have a mixed area of town and country, bounded on one side by the sea. Naturally it attracts many retired elderly and so has a large share of people with dementia and, by definition, a large share of carers. While it has several care homes, places in these homes are rarely empty. 

Homes close for a variety of reasons, not least of which is the high price of property in the area making selling to a property developer a tempting option. The local hospital is linked with the Conquest hospital in nearby Hastings and both are beset with 'bed blocking' problems
