Services offered

  • Barras Court Day Centre

    A purpose built daycare centre providing 48 places per week for older people (over 65). This is a citywide service. The centre has its own transport, a minibus and a car to collect the members. The centre provides a homely but stimulating environment to promote socialisation and activity whilst providing valuable respite for carers. A two course hot meal, with a choice, is provided at lunchtime as well as drinks and snacks throughout the day. We have a recently refurbished dementia friendly garden.

  • Barras Court daycentre for younger people with dem

    This service offers 8 places on one day per week for younger people with dementia. It has a high staff ratio of 1:3 which enables us to do more intensive work with the members. It offers everything that the older people's daycare offers but differs in that the service is geared to a younger age group with different types of activities, musicetc.

  • Branch Newsletter

    Local Branch Newsletter - Find out what has been happening in the local area and what is coming up.

  • Carer Support Group

    A monthly meeting for carers of anyone with dementia to share their experiences worries and problems and gain mutual support and understanding from those attending. Facilitated by the Dementia Support team.

  • Carer Training Programme

    A 5 week programme of topics to inform and educate carers in their caing role

  • Coventry Alzheimer cafe

    The cafe runs once per month on a Monday evening. The cafe is an opportunity for people with dementia, their carers and family to come together in a relaxed setting to learn about dementia, meet with others in the "same boat " and get support and help.We follow Dr. Bere Miesen's model and encourage people to talk openly about dementia whilst at the cafe.

  • Dementia Support

    This is a specialist team providing a range of confidential support to pwd, carers and their families. They provide emotional support, information, help with claiming benefits, accessing services, support at meetings or just a listening ear.

  • Friday Club

    A monthly meeting of carers and former carers of pwd with more of a social theme. A chance to meet, make new friends, go out on trips. listen to speakers and have discussions.

  • Information and Resources

    Providing a full range of information as the first point of contact for people with dementia, carers, professionals and the general public. This is done either by telephone, information packs, leaflets, posters, books, videos, dvds and other publications. We have a resources room with Internet access and have a lending library. We produce a regular newsletter.

  • Leisure Worker

    The leisure worker provides an activity service for younger people with dementia who are living at home. She will undertake activities with the pwd either in their home or in the community such as shopping, bowling, walking, the cinema. dancing etc, dependant on their interests and hobbies.

  • Lending Library

    Books, Dvd's availble to read or lend for a refundable deposit, access to the internet.

  • Provision of grants

    The provision of money directly to a person with dementia or their carer for a specific purpose in order to relieve financial hardship.

  • Rugby carers support group

    Monthly support group meetings· Monthly pub lunches for carers who are unable to attend the evening meetings· Carers unable to attend meetings are contacted and given regular support if they wish· Public awareness raising about dementia· Fundraising for the group· The group has strong links with local health teams and other voluntary organisations, particularly Rugby Carers Support.

  • The Quest Club

    A group where pwd can make new friends, share worries and concerns, pick up tips and hints and get mutual understanding from other people with dementia.

  • Training

    The branch manager is an Alzheimer's Society approved trainer and offers training to professionals in the form of planned and structured sessions on dementia and care of people with dementia.The branch also provides a 5 week programme of training for carers of people with dementia.
