Care Support Groups

Bury St. Edmunds Carers' Group:
1st Monday in the month, 2.00 - 3.30 pm, at the Risbygate Centre.

This support group is for carers only. Families going through all stages of dementia attend, enjoying a cup of tea and being able to share their concerns and feelings to others who understand. It is a very friendly group lead by Maggie Woodhouse and often a local CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) attends, time permitting.

Bury St. Edmunds Carers' Group:
1st Thursday in the month from 7.00 pm, at the Risbygate Centre.

Bury De-Caf: Glastonbury Court
Every Thursday from 10.00 am.

Haverhill Carers' Group:
2nd Tuesday in the month, 10.30 - 12.00 noon, in the 'Tiffany' room at Haverhill Day Services, Camps Road, Haverhill.

This is the first support group we have run in Haverhill and there has proved to be a very positive response to it. With Becky Nicholson leading the group, carers can enjoy a cup of coffee and share their concerns with other carers.

Haverhill De-Caf:
4th Tuesday in the month, 10.30 - 12.00 noon, in the 'Tiffany' room at Haverhill Day Services, Camps Road, Haverhill.

This group meeting takes the form of a social 'drop-in' for people with a diagnosis of dementia to call in with their family carer. Within a friendly environment, meet others who are experiencing a similar situation. Enjoy a chat, perhaps some reminiscences, along with some refreshments.

Newmarket Carers' Group:
4th Wednesday in the month, 2pm - 4pm, at the Newmarket Day Centre, Barling Court, Newmarket.

Mildenhall Carers' Group:
4th Wednesday in the month, 2pm - 4pm.

This is a group for carers and the person with dementia.

Sudbury De-Caf:
1st Wednesday in the month, 1.45pm - 3.15pm, at Mellish House, 20 Kings Hill, Great Cornard, Sudbury.

This group meeting takes the form of a social 'drop-in' for people with a diagnosis of dementia to call in with their family carer where you can meet others who are experiencing a similar situation. Enjoy a chat with some refreshments.

Sudbury Carers' Group:
4th Monday of the month 1.30pm - 3.00pm.
Chilton Day Centre, 2 Chilton Industrial Estate, Martins Road, Sudbury.
(Kind permission of Age Concern)

This support group gives an opportunity for carers, without their partners, to voice their feelings and concerns, over a cup of coffee. Many carers know each other from attending the group meeting at Mellish House.

If you would like more information about any of the above support groups, please telephone the Branch office on 01284 766433 and ask to speak to the Outreach worker for your area.
