Outreach Workers
Our Outreach Workers can be contacted via the Bury branch office where there is an answer phone Tel: 01284 766433. They will get back to you as soon as possible
We have two Outreach workers at the West Suffolk branch and they are:
- Maggie Woodhouse who covers Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall and surrounding areas.
- Becky Nicholson who covers Sudbury, Haverhill and
Newmarket.
Becky can be contacted on Tel: 07919 308298 Monday to Thursday.
Their roles as Outreach Workers are to visit people experiencing short term memory loss and those who have a diagnosis of dementia, offering support and and information through meeting families in or out of the home environment, using their discretion in each case, when asked.
They support the family carers, liaising, when appropriate, with other professionals involved (with permission of the family).
Referrals made by the individuals and families themselves, or received from the statuary services or other voluntary services in order to ensure that the best possible support is provided.
Respite Care
This takes place at The Cedars, Age Concern, Saxon House, 7 Hillside Business Park, Kempson Way, Bury St. Edmunds IP32 7EA,Tel: (01284) 757740 on the 1st Saturday of each month 10am -4pm.
We fund Crossroads to run this respite day on our behalf. There are ten places, enabling the carer a much needed break, with a hot lunch provided for a small fee.
We also fund Crossroads to give respite care in the home, on a weekly basis, for a few hours. They will sit with your partner, take them out for a walk or shopping, whatever you or your partner's needs are. Many families take this opportunity of using this service so they can attend our carers' support groups.
There is other voluntary Respite care in the West Suffolk area which our outreach worker can also recommend to you.
