Raising awareness about dementia
A lot of
our work involves raising awareness about all types of dementias and the
issues that affect someone with dementia, their families and
carers. We provide opportunities for people to access
information and advice; learn more about dementia and have a say
about the issues that matter to them and their families.
Information
and advice
We deal with hundreds
of enquiries each year from a wide range of people including people
with dementia, carers, health and social care professionals, social workers and the general public.
We receive enquiries
by telephone, email, post, and while attending local events.
We aim to deal with
all enquiries within five working days and when responding by post we
send items second class.
The service is open
Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Public information talks
We offer free information talks that give an overview of the
different types of dementias and branch services to local
community groups, including religious groups, other
organisations and various older peoples groups. Please contact
us for more information.
We have given talks to:
Carer information talks
These talks aim to
introduce and explore a number of key topics to people who are

have been caring for a relative for a number of years may also
find some of these talks helpful. Topics include:
types of dementia, understanding
changes in behaviour, improving
and maintaining communication, legal,
financial and welfare benefits, accessing
health and social care services, branch
carer support services. Please contact us to find out dates of our
next talks.
